About our Apiary

Beekeeper, Andrew Markey
Hello, and welcome. My name is Andrew Markey and I am the founder of Markey Creations, LLC. I have always been fascinated in insects since my early childhood, but the beekeeping hobby is fairly new to me, and it all started after winning the Michigan Beekeepers' Association new logo contest at the beginning of 2011.
I decided to use my award, a $100 gift certificate at Dadant bee supplier, to purchase my very first hive. I've always wanted to work with insects in some way; I dreamt of becoming an entomologist, but who knew I'd turn out to be a beekeeper instead, which is still great because I love honey bees and their sweet reward they create.
So, with the arrival of my hive and honey bees, I decided to set up my apiary on my grandmother's property, in the great countryside of Fenton, Michigan. Today, my hives are now on my own property in Flint Township due to costly trips back and forth, still far from commercial property and agricultural chemical use.
Our honey is made from the nectar of native plants and trees, and is 100% pure raw honey. It's not pasteurized like commercial honey that you see on store shelves. The honey is lightly strained and unheated to prevent healthy enzymes and other beneficial nutrients found in natural honey from being destroyed. After the honey is harvested, it is taken to my own home kitchen where it is then extracted and bottled.
Thank you for stopping by,
